Jerry Parks and Rec Gifs: The Power of Diversifying Your Content

As I sit here, surrounded by Jerry Parks and Recreation GIFs, I'm reminded of the importance of diversifying your content. As a book blogger, I've always been passionate about sharing my love for reading with others through written words. But, as I began to experiment with video content on YouTube, I discovered a new passion - creating reading vlogs.

Tag yourself, I'm on the right! And, honestly, it's cool interacting and reaching people I otherwise wouldn't have through this completely new medium and variations of content. The people I've met are a major reason I continue to push myself outside of my comfort zone. I mean, an 11-minute video in which I'm supposed to be reading but am instead awkwardly sharing old stories and collecting beach rocks? Definitely not for everyone! But, I'm okay with that, and I welcome it.

Reaching different people is another crucial aspect of diversifying your content. I know the types of videos I make are not for everyone, just like how my blog posts aren't. That's why I love having the ability to split the type of content found between my blog and YouTube channel. Now, reading vlogs are practically the only type of content I consistently create for my YouTube channel, and that's because their visual quality paired with audio personally excite me more to make them.

In the past, I did 24-hour readathons for this blog, but they were never posts I felt particularly inspired to add to my usual rotation of book reviews and discussions. The clearest example of this are reading vlogs. Since creating my BookTube channel, I've found that I exceedingly prefer the video format of some content - like book reviews, TBRs, and Wrap-Ups.

While there's a definite overlap in the types of content that can be found on blogs and BookTube (e.g., book reviews, discussions), I always stuck to making book reviews and discussions on this blog because I liked writing them more. However, with my newfound passion for video content, I'm excited to explore new formats and reach even more readers.

By diversifying your content, you can attract a wider audience and keep your content fresh and exciting. Whether it's through written words or visual storytelling, the most important thing is finding what works best for you and sharing that with the world.
